What's better than a 5-inch
Gundam? Why a 5-inch Gundam slathered in platinum with diamonds for eyes, of course. This $250,000 robot soldier is manufactured by Bandai and will be on display next month at Baselworld, in Basel Switzerland. You know, for the big watch and jewelry show everyone's been talking about... sheez. Great, but we're not interested until this can be produced on
a 1:1 scale.

I am 100% sure this means the terrorists have won.

I wonder how much a 1:1 would cost @.@

Nice one. But please, Thomas Ricker, start up Google Earth and check your spelling. It's called "Basle".
Gabe @ Mar 31st 2007 11:53AM
Not quite right. Its spelled Basel
cc @ Mar 30th 2007 12:55PM
I had a teacher from Basel and he always spelled it with the "e" first... It's spelled "Basel" in German and that's the usual spelling used in English too, I thought. (but according to Wikipedia, "Basle" is the traditional spelling)
I suppose it's ok if you still call Beijing "Peking"... :)

i, for one, welcome our lavish, gaudy overlords...

Having that iced-out bling, bling Gundam in a 1:1 scale would probably rival the GDP of many industrialized nations.
AbbydonKrafts @ Mar 30th 2007 1:40PM
That earned a vote from me. LOL
MarkG @ Mar 30th 2007 12:56PM
Iceseven, it used to be called Basle, but now it's called Basel (Swiss-German), Bâle (Swiss-French) or Basilea (Swiss-Italian). Normally, the German spelling dominates, it being a very German oriented city.
As to the point of this thread, some people would think a dog turd was attractive if it was platinum plated and studded with diamonds. Very sad.
Iceseven @ Mar 30th 2007 1:44PM
I know that it's called Basel in swiss-german, but my company here in Basel still writes "Basle" if they write some stuff in english.
And yes, some may really think that it's kind of a dork-conversation going on here...

Out of curiosity, with a $250,000.00 price tag I would think you could make a functional 1:1 scale out of raw metal... I might think about selling all my stocks to get one then... I just dont know where I'd get the other $249,500.00...

I'd be more impressed for a million dollar poseable Masterpiece Starscream

Well, it do catch eye balls. I am apprehensive about this robot soldier worth $250,000. How sensible is it to spend big bucks on this 5-inch Gundam.

a real life gundam can be found here:

it has a brain plus 7 helicopter engines for movement... And it costs $700,000,000
