Takara Tomy's i-SOBOT gets reviewed, videoed
If you thought an introductory video was enthralling, wait till you check this out. Waziwazi was able to get some time alone with Takara Tomy's i-SOBOT, and while a thorough review would've certainly been enough, those folks went the extra mile and videoed quite a bit of the creature acting up. Reviewers found the bot to be "hilarious and easy to operate," and while they weren't exactly keen on the infrared remote, it was said to be "awesome fun" nonetheless. Of course, we aren't asking you to take our word for it, so head on over to the read link for a fairly in-depth review complete with box shots and lots of in-action video.

I wonder if it's just the audio on the movies that makes the servos whine like scratching your fingernails on a blackboard?
I'm listening on headphones... maybe it's not that bad.
Trivial complaint compared to the coolness of the toy. I don't understand the "not programmable" error.. the Last sequence was certainly programmed.

I really have a problem with so-called robots needing to be controlled via a remote control. If it needs a remote control then is it really a robot or just a fancy toy?
jilie @ Sep 28th 2007 10:40AM
it's not an robot with AI ,it's just a robot..

Why do we call these things robots? They are nothing more than radio controlled toys that happen to walk instead of roll. They don't do anything on their own, have no intelligence or even run a program. A good robot is something that fetches me a cold beer when I come home, charges itself when needed, and checks out that weird noise I heard during the night, reporting back to me what it was.

I get an error trying to load their page.

The error is now fixed. It didn't appear with FF so we thought all was well.
