The 2005 Engadget Awards: Nominate the Robot of the Year

Nominating is easy. Just leave a comment as you normally would with what you're nominating for this category (remember, comments must be validated!). You don’t have to include your reasons for nominating it or any of that stuff, just leaving the name is fine.
Limit your nominations only to robots that were functional for the first time in 2005 (which means no concept robots, though we will allow updated versions of previous robots, as well as prototypes).
Also, products only need to be nominated once to be in the running, so if you’re planning on suggesting something, please make a quick scan to see if someone’s already beat you to it (i.e., please don't nominate anything more than once!). Thanks!

If not the coolest technologically (LEGO's next gen might get that one), definitely the neatest looking.

ASIMO, the humanoid made by Honda. I saw his performance, and I was impressed.
If there is such a thing as an honorable mention, I'd recommend Ken Gracey's Penguin (a smaller version of the Parallax) Toddler.

Asimo is certainly the most advanced robot in the world. The latest update running at 6km/h and his other capabilities, really the greatest. Although the Partner robots of Toyota also impressed my very much at the world expo in Aichi (http://lucy.vub.ac.be/diary_aichi4.htm), I hope they will start a world tour.

I nominate the iRobot Roomba Scheduler as Robot of the year. There are well over a million roombas in households now.

iRobot Scooba floor scrubber/washer. Amazingly nifty - even more than the robovac they also sell.

iRobot Roomba/Scooba:
This is the first company truely bringing a robot/product to the masses/market (besides Sony's Toys). This product is making true changes in my daily life, and deriving real profits to invest in future robotic products. Go iRobot!
